Set of illustrations for “Ilustrando en Bola” collective, a colab with other artists from Mexico. Once the topic was defined we were free to choose what to illustrate and the technique. These are my contributions for this inniciative. Check all the illustrations in the following links. Typical Mexican Trades El Trío Digital painting in Photoshop. The musical trio is a classic group of performers who play traditional music, especially Bolero style. They play and sing intricate harmonies displaying a great skill and talent. Mexican Prehispanic Gods Tamatzi Kauyumari 3D render and digital painting in Maya and Photoshop.Deer 3D model bought online; rigged, textured and posed by me. Tamatzi Kauyumari means Big Brother Blue Deer. It is one of the main gods in Wixárika culture, believed to be a guide in the search for the sacred food Peyote through the mountain Wirikuta. Mexican “Lotería” Game Cards Redesign La Chalupa Digital painting over 3D render in Maya and Photoshop.VP Gerbera flowers 3D model by VIZPARK. Mathilda 3D rig by Savannah College of Art and Design students. “Lotería” is a Bingo-like game with 54 cards displaying different characters and objects. The cards are drawn and “shouted” with a rhyme or joke said before the name of the card, related to it. “La Chalupa” is a traditional mexican boat used since Aztec times for commerce, merchandise transfer, transport and trading. Even though its use is scarse today, they can still be seen at Xochimilco lake selling both traditional and modern products. The original card portraits a young indigenous woman rowing on the Chalupa packed with fruits and flowers. This version plays with another meaning of the word “Chalupa”, a tasty dish from central Mexico maid of a thick corn tortilla topped with mashed beans, chicken, cream, cheese and spicy sauce. In my version of “La Chalupa” the girl is not only riding a Chalupa but also eating a Chalupa. For this art I modeled the background, boat and fruits, posed the rig, flowers and the rest of the elements, then digital painted in Photoshop over the gray render from Maya. Traditional Mexican Song Book “Mátalas” by Manuel Eduardo Toscano Digital vector illustration in Illustrator.Using some vector illustrations bought online. Instructions on how to “kill” (of love) a woman out of lovely details, using the lyrics from the song as the basis for the instruction pannel. Mexico City’s Metro Stations (Subway) Metro Normal Digital vector illustration in Illustrator and background collage in Photoshop. Mexico City’s subway stations are identified by icons related to their name or the landmarks surrounding them. For this collab we reinterpreted the Metro icons. “Normal” is the station close to the capital’s Normal School (college for teacher training focused on “norms” or model teaching methods). In this reinterpretation I used the two other meanings of the word: something usual or common, and the normal line in geometry ––the perpendicular line to a curve or surface. The LGBT flag waves to the wind while its surface normal is indicated with an arrow, symbolizing the normality of being part of the LGBT+ community.

Storyboard/Animatic

Tanishq Ad In this project I did while working at Silver Canvas I had the chance to be in charge of the whole process, from the first meetings with the client, the storyboard design and the final animation. Storyboard Final animation Animation project: El Monstruo de la Basura I worked in the storyboard, animatic and final animation of the shortfilm El Monstruo de la Basura, along with two partners. The shortfilm participated for the animated shortfilm contest EcoFilm Festival. Storyboard Animatic Final animation Silver Canvas Animation Studio Promo Videos Part of my duties at Silver Canvas was to create videos and designs for the business promotion. These are a couple of animatics I did proposing a new promotional video. My internship there was finished before we could produce the final videos, so we only got the animatic versions. Animated Marketing GIFs

One of our top products in my company, RanDom Studio, were these GIFs. These brief animations let small businesses to have a promotional animation without spending too much. Furthtermore, the GIF format allowed our clients to easily add them to their websites, emails, presentations and even send them by whatsapp. This is a colection of our favorite ones. To create them we bought vectorial designs online which we animated in After Effects and sometimes personalized with Illustrator. This strategy let us minimize expenses in order to offer lower prices to our clients, saving us productions time as well.

Animated Save-the-Dates

Production and project management One of our recurring clients at RanDom Studio was an event planner who worked with eccentric millionaires who liked to make themed celebrations. A themed save-the-date was the best invitation for those special occasions. These animated invitations added another layer of style and exclusiveness for their recipients. They were created using the designs provided by our client, which were vectorised, composed and then animated. Many times, we added some stock content as well. For these projects, I was in charge of communicating with the client and the project management of the work. Check some of the individual animations.

Infographic design and animation for Coaching con Caballos

Production, project management screenplay and animation This was one of the most complete projects from my company, RanDom Studio. We had several meetings with the client to fully understand their job and translate it into an infographic design. The task was difficult because they wanted to communicate several important bits of information. Moreover, since we were producing a 1-minute animation, the message had to be concise and powerful. For this project, I wrote the script, did the animation, put the audio toghether and coordinated the team. I also met frequently with the client, keeping close communication to inform them about the progress of the work. We had good results, and after that, we were granted the opportunity to create animated GIFs for them, as well as a website for a different business from one of the owners. This is one of the GIFs created for Coaching con Caballos. And this is one of the GIFs we created for the other business of one of the owners.
